Here’s what you need to know:

1. What does it mean to be baptized?

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward decision that you've made to follow Jesus. It illustrates Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection (Col. 2:12). At First Free, we practice baptism by immersion, which means that we baptize people by submerging them in water.

2. Who can be baptized?

First Free practices believer's baptism. We understand Scripture to say that only people who have decided to follow Jesus should be baptized. Baptism is not necessary for salvation, but it is an act of obedience and an important step in the faith journey of a believer.

3. When Can I be Baptized?

We hold baptism services a few times a year - typically in the spring, summer, and fall. You can sign up any time using the form at the bottom of the page and we'll contact you when it's time to confirm. Our next scheduled baptism will be April 27, 2025 - stay tuned for details!

4. What Happens on the Day?

Before your baptism, you'll work with a pastor on your story of coming to faith. You'll have the opportunity to share your story when you are baptized. If you'd rather not speak in public, the pastor baptizing you can share your story. On Baptism Sunday, you'll arrive early, change into your First Free Baptism t-shirt, go over the order of the service, and then it's time! As you come up out of the water, we'll cheer and celebrate like you made the best decision of your life - because you did! It'll be an amazing day!

5. How Do I Sign Up?

You can sign up to be baptized by clicking the button below! It will take you to the signup form. After you've filled out the form, you'll be contacted by a member of our worship ministry team who will explain the ins and outs of being baptized at First Free and answer any questions that you have about the process. If you're interested in being baptized, please fill out the form and we'll contact you when we schedule the next baptism service.
