Job Description:

The Junior High Pastor is responsible for leading First Free’s ministry to students in grades 6-8. This includes:

  • Provide leadership and vision to Junior High volunteers.
  • Develop students and volunteers through the use of the Leadership Pipeline.
  • Assist in creating weekly programs, special events, retreats, mission trips, and camps designed to facilitate students’ spiritual development.
  • Provide pastoral care to students and their families.

This position is a full-time, salaried (exempt) position of approximately 45-50 hours per week. The Junior High Pastor is part of the Family Ministries team and reports directly to the Pastor of Family Ministries.

  • Provide Biblically anchored content that meets Junior High students where they are.
  • Strategically and meaningfully partner with parents to shepherd their families.
  • Oversee recruitment and training of volunteers.
  • Work with staff to develop leadership pathways for students and volunteers.
  • Provide pastoral care for students, parents, and leaders.
  • Create opportunities for students to serve and connect with the church body.
  • Oversee the planning and administration of Junior High camps, retreats, mission trips, and events.
  • Lead Junior High team to adhere to the Student Ministry safety/security procedures.
  • Oversee applicable portions of the Student Ministry budget.
  • Support the mission and vision of First Free Church.
  • Continue to grow professionally and spiritually by participating in outside opportunities, such as conferences, seminars, reading, and networking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four-year college degree or greater. Seminary or formal Bible training is a plus.
  • Experience leading a student ministry of 50-100 students.
  • Proven success in the following areas:
    • Recruiting, leading, and equipping adult volunteers.
    • Providing Biblically sound and engaging content for large and small groups.
    • Implementing and facilitating small group ministries.
    • Organizing, planning, and administrating student events, trips and activities.
