Our 2021 Take Back Black Friday offering went towards helping plant a new church in Huamachuco, Peru in partnership with Compassion International.
Here’s how it’s going!
Construction is complete!
We have a super exciting update – construction on the church in Peru is complete, and the community has started having services there!
Currently, 40 adults attend worship services and 150 children participate in the child development center.
Pastor Frank (preaching in the photo) from the church plant sent this message:
“Dear Friends,
We are very grateful for your generosity and for giving us the opportunity to do a better job as a church. Your support has been God’s answer to our prayers. The Lord continues to challenge and strengthen us to move forward when we see so much spiritual and material need. We know that it is his will and we want with love to prepare ourselves to continue serving in his work.
We thank God for allowing us to serve and you for helping us in this task. We thank you from the depths of our hearts and may our good God bless you abundantly and meet your needs.”
Making progress
The construction has advanced rapidly over the last 60 days. The church has walls and a ceiling! Through many challenges in the construction process, God has been faithful.
Over the next 60 days, the team hopes to see utility work completed including electricity, water and drainage.

Growing the flock
We’re excited to report that the congregation at the church plant continues to grow and two people were recently baptized!
Local authorities recently agreed to pave a road that leads to the church, which is a great encouragement. The team is grateful as they see how God continues to answer prayer and provide for them.

Moving forward
In September we heard that the local government had been backlogged, which had caused some delays in plan approvals. We were happy to hear that despite the delays things were back on track.
The church leaders have been holding children’s meetings, adult meetings, Bible training, and more! The pastor and leaders of the mother church made home visits to deliver relief to children participating in the Compassion center.

Construction is underway!
In July, we received an update that construction on the new church building was underway.
The land was leveled, permits applied for, water and sewer service applied for, and more!
The church holds Sunday meetings for children and adults, along with recreational walks. In community outreach, the church distributed slippers and shoes to local children and distributed food to the families of children participating in the Compassion center.
