Provide children with special needs a nurturing and safe environment that will provide the needed support to allow for spiritual development through the teachings of Jesus.
Provide a warm and nurturing environment for infants and toddlers in Nursery while teaching them about Jesus through play.
Engage preschool kids while teaching them about Jesus in a warm and fun environment.
Facilitate a warm, inviting, and engaging atmosphere for our elementary students while teaching them about Jesus.
Connect with our 4th and 5th-grade students in a warm, inviting, and fun atmosphere while teaching them about Jesus.
Assist with tech on Sunday mornings and help kids grow closer to Christ through the partnership of teaching and worship teams.
Ensure new and returning families feel welcome by greeting them warmly, providing a safe and loving environment to enter into, and assisting with check-ins.
Provide a fun and loving atmosphere for Preschool through 6th graders to participate in the AWANA program on Wednesday evenings.

Help coordinate and train our cafe volunteers to serve on Sunday or Wednesday nights.
Make our services come alive by using your gifts in tech. Whether it’s audio, video, lights, or CG, we’ve got a place for everybody to be involved!

Grow in your musical giftings as you learn what it means to lead others into worship. All vocalists and musicians are encouraged to try this out!

Provide a warm welcome to both guests and regular attenders.
Brew coffee and set up coffee counters before Sunday services.
Provide hospitality, restock condiments, and clean up the coffee area.
Ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles in the parking lot and assist guests in finding available parking.
Within the auditorium, welcome, help connect, and encourage people in their steps of faith.
Assist visitors in connecting with First Free; facilitate connection with groups, service opportunities, etc.
Answer questions and provide information as requested; provide basic technical support such as navigating the website, signing up for events, etc; encourage visitors to fill out Connect cards.
First Free vocalists lead our congregation in musical worship on Sunday mornings. The lead songs, sing harmony, and model joyful, authentic worship for our congregation.
We welcome those who play drums, bass, keys, guitar (acoustic and electric) and strings (violin, viola, and cello) to check out our team. Our band community serves our congregation by leading authentic, well rehearsed music to help our church family engage in worship Sunday mornings.
Audio Mixers help operate the audio systems for services and events to ensure clear sound at an appropriate volume level.
The CG operator contributes to the service or event by using ProPresenter to share lyrics, videos, and presentations with the congregation or audience.
Our Camera Operators control the cameras around the room and capture high-quality footage that we use on our live streams and video recordings.
Video Directors direct the video streams around the room to create an engaging online experience.
Stage design (and construction!) and lighting help us to create interesting and engaging spaces that help our congregation get the most out of the worship experience.
Serve immigrants in our community by helping to provide a safe space for them to connect with others and learn English. Hospitality team members help with check-ins, registration, and directing students to their classes.
Teachers and assistant teachers help non-english speakers to learn English. Curriculum and training is provided. ESL meets on Wednesday evenings during fall, winter, and spring.
At our annual Back to School Fair we open our doors to our neighbors who need assistance getting their school supplies.
Tasks may include greeting guests, assisting families in selecting items from their lists, restocking stations, supervising the play area, engaging children at activity stations, and more.
First Free sends a group of 6-8 dedicated volunteers to Oasis on the first Saturday of every month from 9:00 AM to noon to clean, paint, garden, and do whatever else Oasis needs to serve its clients!
Bridge of Hope Ministries serves one of the poorest areas of North St. Louis. They have a variety of volunteer opportunities available.
Bridge of Hope Ministries serves one of the poorest areas of North St. Louis. Engaging with Hope Education will give you the opportunity to tutor students from North St. Louis, fully online. Training is provided.
Volunteers coordinate the annual food drive for Circle of Concern Food Pantry.
Spend a week in Ironton, MO to help bring the message of Christ to the children of Iron and Madison Counties through a free VBS-type Bible day camp experience. This trip is designed for the whole family with opportunities for all ages to serve.

Volunteers are needed to help with planning, collection and delivery of gifts for families of incarcerated individuals.
Mustard Seed Group (MSG) is a ministry to Chinese students at Washington University. Volunteers are needed to participate in English Bible studies, build relationships and encourage students.
Workday Team Volunteers meets on the second Saturday morning of each month. First Free Volunteers help with repairs, restorations, and lawn maintenance. Work sessions generally last 4-5 hours. Projects are usually completed by 1 p.m.
Our Crisis Response Team serves the physical and spiritual needs of those impacted by natural disasters or other calamities. Volunteers are equipped and ready to serve in crisis response ministry. Response teams will be fluid, based on the situation, actions required, and availability of team members.
Members of this team are trained to respond to crises in our church, our community, our nation, and abroad.
Serve with others to communicate with and care for our missionaries serving around the world.
Volunteers are needed to help with the coordination, set-up, and clean-up of lunches for our missionaries and outreach teams.
Volunteers are needed to staff tables during the week while people & other churches drop off their Operation Christmas Child boxes.
Volunteers are needed to plan and coordinate the collection of Operation Christmas Child boxes at First Free.
Volunteers help with registration, refreshments, and various support roles for Cup of Nations Soccer Tournament. Cup of Nations takes place over two weekends, with youth and adult competitions.
First Free’s annual Food-Packing provides support to families around the world impacted by hunger and poverty.
It’s a great opportunity for your family, small group, or just yourself that will put food in the mouths of 20,000 school children around the world impacted by hunger and poverty. Most ages and abilities are able to participate in this food-packing event. Most work can be accomplished while seated, but we’ll also need some strong arms for set up and tear down. Watch for the registration form each winter!

Our Operations Officers monitor internal and external communication systems in order to coordinate response activities to emergencies that may occur during services.
Our Safety Team Members are experts in the execution of the church’s preparedness plan. Their role is to help lead the response should an emergency occur.
The MERT Team serves as primary responders to medical emergencies occurring during services in order to provide initial emergency medical care while awaiting the arrival of EMS.

Our Traffic Safety Team Members ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles in the parking lot, assist guests in finding available parking, and help prepare the congregation for worship through hospitality.
Our Photography Team helps us to capture the beautiful moments that happen at our church so we can share them with others.
Our Videography Team helps us to tell stories that share the life change that happens at First Free.
Help keep our grounds looking great! Projects may include raking, weeding, planting, trimming, and general clean-up. More advanced projects could include help with retaining walls and other landscaping. Knowledge of landscaping is helpful but not necessary. Individuals and/or groups welcome!
Help keep our buildings and equipment at their very best! Projects may include simple repairs and power washing. Requires basic home maintenance skills.
Help keep our buildings looking great inside and out by freshening up paint! Requires an eye for detail; experience is helpful but not necessary.
Help keep our spaces looking their best with some detailed cleaning around the buildings. Projects could include deep cleaning and organizing kitchen areas or the nursery, and detailed dusting. An eye for detail and organization skills are helpful.
As a member of the Caregiving/Prayer Team, your primary responsibility will be to follow up with, encourage, and pray for individuals facing health issues or undergoing surgery who are listed on the church’s prayer list.
The Funeral Team is a compassionate group of volunteers who play a vital role in greeting guests and assisting with setup and cleanup for the memorial services and the subsequent luncheons.
Come alongside pre-engaged and engaged couples, a mentor couple will work to prepare couples planning to be married for a successful lifelong commitment centered on God’s principles of marriage. Training and curriculum are provided.
The wedding coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties related to both planning and executing weddings at First Free.
The Willing Hands team assists seniors, single parents, widows, and the disabled who are connected to First Free with general household and automobile maintenance.
Work on a team to provide meals for families following funerals.
We love holding events at our church, but those big fun celebrations take time, planning, and extra hands to make them happen. Join our events team to be part of the action!
